Achievements

Something to chase beyond the next level: 29 things Arclo already watches, turned into achievements with tiers, badges and rewards.

On this page

An achievement is a trigger, a goal and a reward. Arclo is already counting most of what a member does, so the work is deciding what is worth celebrating rather than instrumenting anything.

Fifteen are seeded when you switch it on

There is something to earn before you have configured anything. Edit them, delete them, or leave them.

Triggers

29 triggers across 6 groups. Anything Arclo observes can become progress toward something.

  • Several triggers can be limited to specific channels — messages in #art rather than messages anywhere.
  • Some triggers can be backfilled from data Arclo already holds, so an achievement you create today can credit what members did before it existed.
  • Given by hand is a trigger of its own, for achievements a human awards.

Tiers

An achievement is a ladder rather than a single badge. “Send messages” can be bronze at 100, silver at 1,000 and gold at 10,000 — one achievement, several rungs, each with its own badge, name and reward.

Goal
The number that unlocks the tier.
Name and description
What it is called when it is announced and on the member's card.
Badge
Designed in the badge editor. The plate is hand-drawn artwork, recolored to match your badge in your browser and in the posted image alike.
Reward
A role, XP, or both. Roles are granted when the tier unlocks.
Secret
Hidden from the list until it is earned.

Announcements and pages

  • Unlocks can be announced in a channel, in a DM, or not at all — with a designed message and the badge image attached.
  • /achievements shows a member's progress; the public web page shows the whole catalogue and a member's card without needing Discord.
  • The leaderboard ranks members by tiers unlocked, and can live as a pinned message that rebuilds itself.

Commands

  • /achievements [member]
    Everyone

Shows a member's achievement card — their badges, points and progress.

  • /achievements-leaderboard [sort]
    Everyone

Shows the top 10 achievement hunters with a link to the full web page.

  • /achievement-grant <member> <achievement> [tier] [announce]
    Administrators

Gives a member an achievement or moves their progress.

  • /achievements-reset [member] [achievement] [confirm]
    AdministratorsCannot be undone

Resets progress for one member, one achievement, or the whole server.

Things to know

  • Progress is tracked whether or not an achievement exists for it, so creating one later is not starting from zero for the triggers that support backfill.
  • Deleting an achievement does not remove roles it already granted.
  • A member who no longer qualifies keeps what they earned — achievements record what happened, not what is currently true.

Still stuck? Ask in the support server — somebody there has almost certainly configured this before.
