Five commands about Arclo itself. They belong to the Information system, which is the one system with no master switch — /help going dark because somebody turned a system off would be the worst possible failure for the command that explains the rest.

The commands

  • /help [system] [command]
    Everyone

    Arclo's front door — what every system does, which commands it owns, and how to use each one. Browse a system, look one command up, or open the dashboard.

  • /about
    Everyone

    What Arclo is, how much of it this server is using, and how fast it's answering right now — plus every link in one place.

  • /dashboard
    Everyone

    A link straight to this server's dashboard, where every system is configured.

  • /invite
    Everyone

    A link to add Arclo to another server — you'll need Manage Server there.

  • /vote
    Everyone

    Where to vote for Arclo on the bot lists. Voting changes nothing about what your server gets — it is how other servers find it.

Note

All five answer privately by default, so running /help in a busy channel does not post a wall of text into it. The fifteen /info lookups still answer the room.

/help answers privately, and lists only what is switched on in that server.

How /help works

Three levels, navigated with buttons and a browse menu:

  1. Overview

    What Arclo is, the three ways to reach it — the dashboard, commands, this documentation — and the links.

  2. A system

    What it does, whether it is on in this server, and its commands. Large systems lead with the handful people actually reach for and offer the rest behind a pager.

  3. One command

    The full description, its syntax, who may run it, whether it is enabled here, and a link to its settings.

Help never lists something you cannot use

Every page is filtered against what is actually true in your server: master switches, per-command enabled state, and the permissions your dashboard rules require. Commands hidden for that reason are counted in a footnote rather than silently dropped.

  • The buttons keep working across restarts — everything the next page needs is carried in the button itself rather than remembered somewhere.
  • If somebody presses a button on a public help message they did not open, they get their own private copy rather than taking over yours.
  • The frame — color, footer, thumbnail — comes from your server's reply design, so help pages can be restyled without their content going stale.

The welcome message

When Arclo is added to a server it sends one message, once, to whoever added it: what it does, the first three things to set up, and a button to the dashboard. It is never sent twice, even if the bot is removed and re-added.

Links

Every link Arclo prints is a real one or is left out entirely — there are no placeholder URLs in a live message. Pages carry at most three link buttons; anything else is a text link in the body, because five identical grey rectangles is not a menu.
