Social Alerts

Point Arclo at a Twitch channel, a YouTube channel, a Bluesky account, a GitHub repository, an RSS feed or a Spotify artist, and it announces every new thing exactly once, with your own message, in the channel you pick, mentioning the roles you choose.

1Creating an alert

   Open the platform's page

   Social Alerts → Twitch Alerts, YouTube Alerts, and so on, switch the platform on, and press Create Alert.

   Find the account

   Start typing a name and Arclo searches the platform where it can, or accepts a handle or a URL. What you pick is confirmed against the platform before it is saved.

   Choose the channel

   Any text or announcement channel, or a forum, where each alert becomes a new post.

   Pick the event types

   Platforms that emit more than one kind let you choose which. A platform with only one hides the block.

   Design the message

   The default is a good announcement out of the box. The message editor and a live preview are there when you want more, and Customize per event type gives a kind of event (a stream ending, a Short) a design of its own.

   Publish

   Nothing is written until you press Save draft or Publish, and a draft announces nothing. Send test posts a sample to the channel first, unsaved changes included.

2Announced exactly once

Every announcement is claimed before it is sent, keyed to the source, the kind of event and the item. A stream that blips offline and back, a feed that edits an entry, a re-poll after a restart. None of them can produce a second alert.

• Sources are pooled: a streamer followed by a thousand servers is polled once, not a thousand times.
• A stream that goes live again within ten minutes of ending is a dropped connection reconnecting, so it is the same stream rather than two.
• While a platform is switched off nothing is announced, and nothing is saved up for later either: what was posted in the meantime is recorded as seen, so switching it back on announces only what comes after. A source nobody has polled for six hours starts again from a fresh baseline for the same reason.

The message

Message style

Designed message posts your design. Plain link (native preview) posts the message text and the raw link, and lets Discord draw its own preview, which some servers prefer for videos. The design and the button are skipped.

Mention roles

Pinged with every alert, up to 25 roles. A role your message text does not already mention is added in front of it.

Mention @everyone

The default message already says @everyone in its text, and this switch is what lets it ping. Off, the text stays but pings nobody; on, Arclo adds an @everyone itself if your text has none.

Post as

Bot (Arclo), Creator (their name and avatar) or Custom (a name and avatar you set). The last two post through a webhook, so they need Manage Webhooks; without it the alert falls back to the bot.

Link button

One button under the alert, its URL filled in automatically. It says Watch, Listen, Read or Open to suit the event unless you give it a label and an emoji of your own. Remove button drops it.

Placeholders vary by platform, and each page lists its own. Every platform has {url}, {creator_avatar} and {thumbnail}; nearly all of them also have {creator}, {title}, {description} and {platform}.

Filters

Up to 10 rules per alert, with Must match all rules or Any rule is enough. A rule is a field, a test (Contains, Doesn't contain, Matches pattern or Doesn't match pattern) and a value. The fields depend on the platform, and each page lists its own: a Twitch alert can filter on the category being streamed, a Reddit alert on post flair.

Some platforms add switches of their own to the same card:

• X and Bluesky: Include replies, Include reposts and Include quote posts.
• X, Bluesky and Reddit: Media only, for posts with an image or a video.
• Reddit: NSFW posts are skipped, announced with the image spoilered, or announced as they are.
• Twitch and Kick: Skip mature streams and Minimum viewers, and on Twitch Ignore reruns.
• YouTube: Minimum duration, and Announce premieres as videos to announce a scheduled premiere straight away rather than when it starts.
• Spotify: Release types, albums, singles or both.
• RSS, podcasts, GitHub and Steam: Maximum item age in days, and Alerts per check (one to five, newest first), so a feed that publishes ten items at once does not post all ten.

Silent message

Posts without a push notification, like an @silent message.

Publish to following servers

In an announcement channel, publishes each alert so servers following the channel get it too.

Keep only the latest alert

Deletes the previous alert message when a new one posts.

Thread

Create a thread per alert starts a thread on each one, named after the update unless you give it a name (placeholders work). In a forum channel every alert is its own post anyway.

Cooldown

Minutes between alerts from this source, up to 24 hours. 0 turns it off.

Daily limit

The most alerts per day, for a feed that occasionally floods. 0 means unlimited.

Streams

Twitch and Kick alerts carry a Stream settings card, because a stream is a thing that lasts:

• Auto-refresh the alert updates it every five minutes with the current viewer count and preview while the stream is live.
• When the stream ends: Do nothing, Edit the alert into its stream-end design (its own tab under Customize per event type), or Delete the alert.
• Live role: give one member of your server, by user ID, a role while the stream is live, for a LIVE tag or a hoisted spot in the member list. It is taken back when the stream ends.
• Create a Discord event while live: a scheduled server event that appears when the stream starts and ends with it.

How fast alerts arrive

Arclo polls, and where a platform offers a live signal it uses it as a nudge to poll immediately rather than as a second path. Each platform page states its own expected delay honestly. Nothing here promises instant.

Availability

9 of the 14 platforms are available today. The rest are behind Premium. Not as a business decision about which features are worth paying for, but because their data has a per-tracked-account cost or an access barrier Arclo does not control.
