Reminders

One-off and recurring reminders for members and for staff, in the member's own time zone, delivered as a plain message or an embed you designed.

On this page

Two audiences at once: members setting themselves a nudge with /reminder create, and staff scheduling a recurring message from the dashboard.

Time zones

Nobody has to configure one

Discord never tells a bot a member's time zone, so Arclo captures the browser's zone when somebody opens the dashboard and uses it for their reminders. Confirmations use Discord timestamps, which render in each reader's own clock regardless. There is deliberately no server time zone setting and no command to set one.

Creating one

When
A duration (in 3 hours), or a date and time.
Repeat
Every N minutes, hours, days or weeks. Minute and hour repeats step within a daily window; day and week repeats anchor to the start date, so they stay on the same weekday through daylight saving.
Where
A DM, or a channel. A channel reminder needs the permission to manage the server or a delegated role.
Mentions
A role can be mentioned only if it is mentionable, or you hold Mention Everyone — the same rule Discord applies to people.
Message
Plain by default. /reminder create embed:True opens a short form; dashboard reminders get the full editor.

PauseJump to message
A delivery carries a Pause button, so a recurring reminder can be stopped from the message itself.

Running them

  • One switch per reminder — enabled or disabled. Disabling freezes it; enabling recomputes the next run from now.
  • A delivery carries a Pause button, so the recipient can stop a recurring reminder without opening anything.
  • A failed send is retried a few times; the last error is shown on the dashboard list.
  • A recurring reminder more than six hours late skips that occurrence rather than firing a stale one. A one-off always sends, however late.
  • There is a per-member cap on how many reminders one person may keep.

Remind Me

Right-click any message → AppsRemind Me sets a reminder that links back to it. It is the fastest path and needs no arguments.

Commands

  • /reminder create <time> <text> [repeat] [channel] [mention] [embed]
    Everyone

Sets a personal reminder — DM by default, or into a channel.

  • /reminder list
    Everyone

Lists your reminders on this server.

  • /reminder delete <reminder>
    Everyone

    Deletes one of your reminders.

  • /reminder pause <reminder>
    Everyone

Pauses or resumes one of your repeating reminders.

  • Right-click a message → Apps → Remind Me
    Everyone

    Right-click a message → Apps → Remind Me

Right-click any message → Apps → Remind Me — get a DM about it later.

Still stuck? Ask in the support server — somebody there has almost certainly configured this before.
